2017 Marucci Cat 7 MCBC7 Review

marucci cat 7 bbcor drop 3

There’s nothing like the perfect swing to get you that home run on a great deal! Quality and affordability might be some of the things we consider when purchasing a baseball bat, so I’ve taken a look at a few favorites and boiled it all down to the Marucci Cat7 which has the best of both worlds. This new Marucci bat offers a great quality hit at a reasonable price and just might boost your chances of scoring the winning hit of the day- with style! Yes, the Marucci Aluminum Bats have always added a little flare to my game, whether it be the cat 5, cat 6 or cat 7- the look is amazing! But let me tell you why the Marucci Cat 7 is by far my favorite and extinguishes all flames of the “Marucci Cat 5 vs. Cat 6 vs. Cat 7” argument by sharing some of the Cat 7 specs that I’ve grown to love (and hate).

Taking a Swing with the Marucci Cat 7

First of all I think it’s quite important that you know there are two main Marucci bats that are considered to be Cat 7s! We have the Marucci Cat 7 BBCOR Baseball Bat (which we’ll get to talking about in just a minute), and the Marucci Cat 7 CONNECT BBCOR Baseball Bat, which is basically almost the same as the Marucci BBCOR, except for the fact that it’s a 2-piece bat (meaning it can be disassembled into two parts). Before I continue to the product features, let’s address a surprisingly popular question: Where are Marucci bats made? Manufactured in USA and more specifically coming from Louisiana!

Features

Now let’s talk specs! This Marucci bat of AZ4X alloy construction provides strength with a clean finish. It has a 2nd generation Anti-Vibration knob which is fitted with a system that lessens the vibrational feedback when hitting the baseball, making it much easier to let go of after your swing. If you’re all caught up amidst the Cat 7 vs. Cat 6 head-spin, you might want to take note that the Cat 7 has double the sweet spot size as both the Cat 6 and Cat 5 bats.

It basically has no dead spots because of the newly added barrel technology that expels the need for any baseball bat weight ring. Can’t forget to mention the Marucci big barrels! The thickness of the specially engineered barrel-end, with barrel walls at a lower MOI(Moment of Inertia) count, help to keep swings balanced and helps you generate a faster speed for a farther hit.

Options

If you’ve updated yourself with Marucci bat reviews in general, you’ll find that they always offer different sizes and weights, most popular being the Marucci Cat7 BBCOR baseball bat 31inches/28oz, which is a drop 3. Other drops include the drop 5, drop 8 and drop 10 (better known as the Junior Big Barrel). These new Marucci bats in Cat7 come in adult and even kid sizes known as the youth Marucci bats. These bats produce a loud popping sound when hitting the ball which could be either a satisfying or distracting feature, depending on the batter.

Concerns

cat7 bat grip

You might want to grab yourself an extra Marucci bat grip with the Cat7, because although it offers a grip that is soft to the touch it tends to not be so strong on the actual grip material, which actually complements the AV2 Anti-Vibration technology, it really depends on preferences and personal skills such as your physical grip strength.

My thoughts as the batter!

Well, I could give you a list of pros and cons for this Marucci bat based on my personal thoughts, but let me keep this as platonic and unbiased as I can!

Hitting Home Base

marucci cat 7 reviews

It’s hard to depict pros and cons for this Marucci Cat 7 BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBC7) because it does have a bunch of new features that we aren’t used to seeing included in baseball bats available in the open market for us, even for the Marucci BBCOR baseball bats. Like I said earlier, it really depends on your preferences and different skills.

As a batter, personal strengths are always to be considered, such as:

  • Accuracy of your hit- if accuracy is a little bit of a problem for you, this is a bat you might like to consider since it’s one of the top Marucci bats and has the large sweet spot
  • Swing speed- this is something that can be improved if you’re a bit slow because this bat is lightweight and has a great balance to it which also obviously helps if you tend to lose your balance on a swing.
  • Grip strength- your grip strength will have to be well developed to use this bat unless you’re willing to grab an extra grip accessory.
  • Negative vibrational tolerance- after hitting the ball, your thumb tends to stay attached to the bat longer than you’d like, every millisecond counts when running the bases, this bat could be a game saver!
